Welcome to the Freya von Moltke Foundation for the New Kreisau!

The Freya von Moltke Foundation raises funds to support the New Kreisau, an international youth meeting center in Poland. Bridges are built here: bridges between the past and present, between cultures, languages, histories and people.

During World War II, the resistance group the Kreisau Circle convened here to develop concepts for a democratic post-war Europe. Today people of all ages, especially students from various countries, come together at New Kreisau to analyze the past and present through discussion and artistic expression while discovering a diversity of cultures.

Today Kreisau – now called Krzyżowa – is located in Poland. Working independently of the influence of party politics, the New Kreisau works today to reconcile Eastern and Western European traditions, modelling healthy democratic relations between Germany and Poland, and the rest of the world. Against the backdrop of resistance movements opposing dictatorships in the 20th century, the New Kreisau crosses generational, religious and national boundaries.

To maintain this mission, the New Kreisau requires funding from national and international supporters. These contributions commemorate the legacy of resistance movements against the Nazi regime as well as Communism and the collective responsibility for a democratic future in Europe.

The Freya von Moltke Foundation for the New Kreisau has committed to this significant task. The Foundation supports the activities of the New Kreisau and the long-term preservation of the site and raises public awareness.
