Benefactors, sponsors and supporters of the Freya von Moltke Foundation

Our community foundation thrives thanks to the dedication of numerous individuals who are committed to the New Kreisau, democracy, mutual understanding, and a peaceful Europe. More than 400 benefactors contribute to our work. Several sponsoring organizations and countless donors also provide support. Under the umbrella of the Freya von Moltke Foundation, we also manage three dedicated funds and two trust foundations.

We extend our deepest gratitude for this trust and commitment!

Benefactors

In 2004, our foundation was brought to life by 140 committed citizens from Germany, Poland, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and the USA. All of them were devoted to preserving the legacy of the Kreisau Circle and upholding its values. Their objective was to provide enduring support for the New Kreisau as a vibrant place of encounter and remembrance. The circle of donors is continually expanding, forming the foundation of our organization.

On June 16, 2005, the founding of the Freya von Moltke Foundation was celebrated in the presence of the namesake and the Federal President. More than 600 guests attended the founding event.
  • “Kreisau is a wonderful example of what can happen when someone believes in an idea, no matter how unlikely its realization may seem.”

Carolin Dembowski, Office Manager for Lars Klingbeil (Member of the Bundestag), Young Benefactor, and member of the Foundation Council

  • “Kreisau is a place of thought, reconciliation, and international understanding, whose past resonates far into the future. I want to help strengthen this impact together with others.”

Dr. Matthias von Hülsen, co-founder of the Freya von Moltke Foundation and founder of Krzyżowa-Music

  • “My journey with Kreisau began with youth encounters. I saw how young people developed personally and emotionally through collaboration with peers from other countries. They grew beyond themselves through challenging tasks and engaged with role models who, at the time, seemed from a distant past. This experience became the driving force behind my nearly 15 years of work for the Freya von Moltke Foundation.”

Dr. Agnieszka von Zanthier-Kuhnke, co-founder and former managing director of the Freya von Moltke Foundation

  • “In the joint project Krzyżowa, people from East and West Germany, Poland, the Netherlands, and the USA actively began to shape the new Europe from the ground up after the fall of the Berlin Wall, instead of leaving this task solely to the realm of high politics.”

Annemarie Cordes †, founding member of Kreisau Initiative e.V. and member of the Foundation Council of the Freya von Moltke Foundation
