Strengthening Kreisau/Krzyżowa
A thriving international meeting and memorial site requires well-maintained infrastructure, skilled personnel, and strong partnerships. We focus on targeted support to ensure the upkeep of the 14 heritage-listed buildings and the impressive four-hectare park and green spaces. Additionally, we finance staff positions to create the key conditions needed for effective educational work with young people on-site.
To provide Kreisau with a sustainable future, we are continually building an endowment fund. The proceeds from this fund will finance activities in Kreisau for years to come.

Current Project: Renovation of the Historic House on the Hill
The historic House on the Hill is the heart of Kreisau’s remembrance and educational work. This is where the members of the Kreisau Circle held their meetings. Today, it is a space where young people reflect on the significance of civil resistance.
From 2023 to 2026, the historic Berghaus is undergoing extensive renovations. The Freya von Moltke Foundation serves as the central contact point for donations from Germany and other European countries.
Our Support on Site
The Krzyżowa estate spans four hectares—too large to traverse entirely on foot. The Melex electric vehicle supports staff in their daily tasks around the property. This vehicle was donated in 2020 by our foundation in partnership with Rotary International.

Since early 2021, our foundation has financed a leadership position in communication and international collaboration, with funding from the Willy Robert Pitzer Foundation. The aim is to strengthen strategic international communication and expand partnerships, particularly with German organisations.
Located near the estate, Chapel Hill serves as the burial site for the pre-war residents of Kreisau and the von Moltke family cemetery. Chapel Hill is essential to the remembrance work at Kreisau/Krzyżowa. Our foundation supports gardening work on this site through donations.

Many of the estate’s buildings date back to the 18th century and are under heritage protection. Careful and thorough maintenance and renovation of these buildings are crucial. Since repairs are often carried out at short notice, they are primarily funded by unrestricted donations.
