The Freya von Moltke Foundation
The Freya von Moltke Foundation for New Kreisau serves as a bridge between the living memory of the Kreisau Circle´s resistance against National Socialism, the German-Polish reconciliation after World War II, and active international youth work dedicated to building a democratic and peaceful Europe.
Founding, Mission & Structure
The Freya von Moltke Foundation for the New Kreisau is a non-profit community foundation, established in 2004 by committed citizens from Germany, Poland, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and the USA, united by shared values. Its mission is to promote international understanding and peaceful coexistence in Europe.
At the heart of the foundation’s work is Kreisau/Krzyżowa – a place of German resistance against the Nazi regime, of German-Polish reconciliation, and of European encounters and progress. The Freya von Moltke Foundation provides both financial and ideological support to the peace-building work of Kreisau/Krzyżowa, ensuring the long-term preservation and development of this international youth meeting and memorial center, and encourages active engagement with history.
As an independent, non-profit community foundation based in Berlin, it is not affiliated with any political parties or national governments. Its doors are open to all who identify with the goals and values of Kreisau and wish to engage in promoting international understanding and democracy in Europe.
