Head Office of the Freya von Moltke Foundation<\/h1>\n\n\n

The head office of the Freya von Moltke Foundation for New Kreisau manages all operational tasks<\/strong> in close cooperation with the Foundation Board <\/a>and the Advisory Board<\/a>. Its responsibilities include communication with current and potential supporters and partners of the Foundation, planning and organizing events and foundation trips<\/a>, foundation management, and public relations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anna Quirin has been the Managing Director of the Freya von Moltke Foundation since 2019. With a degree in economics, a doctorate in political science and a diploma in foundation management, she brings more than 15 years of professional experience in the NGO sector, international expertise and a personal passion for German-Polish and European understanding to the Foundation’s work. Prior to this, she worked at the Research Institute of the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP), focusing on Central and Eastern Europe. <\/p>\n\n\n

What inspires her to work at the Freya von Moltke Foundation<\/h3>\n\n\n

I find the combination of the fascinating and still inspiring history of Kreisau and the forward-looking mission of our foundation unique. Civil resistance against the unjust Nazi regime, rapprochement and reconciliation after the Second World War, and finally overcoming the division of Europe. All these significant themes of European history can be experienced in Kreisau. I can hardly imagine a better place where young people today can discuss, reflect on, and shape the future of Europe together. <\/p>\n\n\n

Favourite moment in Kreisau\/Krzy\u017cowa<\/h3>\n\n\n

When I see the children and young people playing peacefully on the large green meadow in front of Kreisau Palace, I often think of Freya von Moltke\u2019s words: “Kreisau fulfils the task it was meant for every day: bringing together the youth on European soil. Kreisau lives!”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Fides Sachs is Executive Assistant to the Manager of the Freya von Moltke Foundation. Previously, she worked at the Maecenata Foundation in Berlin and at the non-governmental organization BORDA in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. She studied Political Science, Modern and Contemporary History, and European Ethnology in Paris, Freiburg, Madrid, and Munich. During her studies, she completed internships at the Goethe-Institut in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and worked as a student assistant at the publishing house C.H.Beck in Munich.<\/p>\n\n\n

What inspires her to work at the Freya von Moltke Foundation<\/h3>\n\n\n

Since my school days, I have been passionate about the history of resistance against National Socialism; part of my studies focused on Polish and Eastern European history, particularly the opposition movements. I am therefore thrilled to be part of the important and extensive task of preserving Kreisau\u2019s tangible and intangible heritage, linking the ideas and concepts of that time with relevant contemporary and future issues, and making them meaningful and tangible for future generations in Germany, Poland, and Europe. Our work is guided by the spirit of Freya von Moltke \u2013 whom I consider one of the bravest and most remarkable Europeans of all time.<\/p>\n\n\n

Favourite moment in Kreisau\/Krzy\u017cowa<\/h3>\n\n\n

Every moment spent in Kreisau\/Krzy\u017cowa conveys Kreisau\u2019s historical weight as a center of resistance against National Socialism, a place of German-Polish reconciliation, and a beacon for European understanding. Here, the members of the Kreisau Circle succeeded \u2013 despite their diverse social backgrounds and differing political and religious convictions \u2013 in collaboratively and constructively shaping a coherent vision for Europe\u2019s future. Their example can and should inspire all of us, today and for generations to come.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Moritz Decker is Manager of Philanthropy and Partnerships. He studied Cultural Studies (FH) and is a certified foundation manager through the Fundraising Academy. He has many years of experience in program planning, event design, and fundraising in the non-profit sector. Professionally, he initially worked in the Evangelical Church and later held several years of leadership responsibility at the Kreuzberger Kinderstiftung gAG. His particular interests include the history of German resistance and literature in exile. In addition, he volunteers in managing the estate of Walther Rathenau, the industrialist and former Foreign Minister of the Weimar Republic. <\/p>\n\n\n

What inspires him to work at the Freya von Moltke Foundation<\/h3>\n\n\n

Every form of resistance under National Socialism was significant\u2014not only for its own time but also for future generations. Above all, the courageous women and men of the Kreisau Circle demonstrated through their meetings and planning that a different Germany was possible and that understanding across political divides and religious affiliations could be achieved peacefully. In doing so, they created the intellectual foundation on which today\u2019s work in Kreisau is built. Such historical role models remain of central importance to this day. <\/p>\n\n\n

Favourite moment in Kreisau\/Krzy\u017cowa<\/h3>\n\n\n

A special moment in Kreisau is always when the rapeseed is in full bloom at Pentecost, and the Berghaus in Krzy\u017cowa is framed by fields of bright yellow. On the terrace of the Berghaus, young and older people sit together in conversation, many of whom have never met before. The Berghaus is a unique place where history can be felt reaching into the present. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Hannah Vo\u00df has been working as project manager since January 2024. After gaining experience at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science, completing internships in science communication and the German-French-Luxembourg cultural sector, she began working as a student assistant at the Freya von Moltke Foundation in May 2022. In this role, she coordinated events and supported the Young Benefactors\u2019 Circle. Hannah holds a Master\u2019s degree in Sociocultural Studies with a focus on architectural sociology and history from the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder). <\/p>\n\n\n

What inspires her to work at the Freya von Moltke Foundation<\/h3>\n\n\n

For me, the unique aspect of working at the Freya von Moltke Foundation is the combination of European future visions with historical perspectives. Opening one’s mind to the history(ies) of others and searching for a shared memory is the foundation for building Europe together. This approach, focusing on connection and interaction, defines the work of the Freya von Moltke Foundation for me. <\/p>\n\n\n

Since 2025, Sina Drews has been working as a student assistant at the Freya von Moltke Foundation. She completed her Bachelor\u2019s degree in Media Studies in Potsdam and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in \u201cReligion and Culture\u201d at Humboldt University Berlin. Before joining the Foundation, she gained experience working at university departments and in television. <\/p>\n\n\n

What inspires her to work at the Freya von Moltke Foundation<\/h3>\n\n\n

I am inspired by the story of Freya von Moltke, who managed to hold on to her belief in humanity and act courageously in times of hatred and violence. I consider it an incredible privilege to be able to contribute in a small way to carrying forward her legacy. What motivates me most is the opportunity, through my work, to learn something new every day and to share these insights with others. <\/p>\n\n\n

Since I have not been part of the Freya von Moltke Foundation for long, I know Kreisau only through the stories of my colleagues. I am very much looking forward to finally experiencing this place \u201clive\u201d during the ceremonial opening of the Berghaus in summer 2026\u2014a place that has already inspired and moved so many people. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Since November 2024, Hanna Martinec has been supporting the team of the Freya von Moltke Foundation as a student assistant in public relations. She is pursuing a Master\u2019s degree in Applied Literary Studies \/ Contemporary Literature at Freie Universit\u00e4t Berlin. Previously, she worked as a student assistant at Barenboim-Said Academy. <\/p>\n\n\n

What inspires her to work at the Freya von Moltke Foundation<\/h3>\n\n\n

We are living in a tense political climate: a rightward shift in society, increasing polarization, and populist rhetoric are shaping political landscapes around the world. There is no more important moment to recall the essential role of democratic dialogue and a strong civil society. In the Kreisau Circle, people with different political beliefs came together to work on a shared vision: democracy, mutual understanding, peace, and a united Europe. We need the spirit of this resistance group now more than ever\u2014in a time when it becomes clearer each day that democracy is not a given, but an ongoing project that must be shaped, defended, and continually reaffirmed. I am grateful for the opportunity to pursue this mission as part of the Foundation\u2019s work, together with a dedicated team. <\/p>\n\n\n

Favourite moment in Kreisau\/Krzy\u017cowa<\/h3>\n\n\n

The evening walk to the Berghaus, with its beautiful view after a stimulating day of exchange with people from different backgrounds, was my personal highlight. It was moving to stand in the place where the Kreisau Circle once met. One can feel the immense power emanating from the historic Berghaus, a spirit that continues to be carried forward every day through the work at the New Kreisau. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n
