First Meeting of the Young Benefactors in Berlin, 31. July/1. August 2010

The Young Benefactors and a circle of interested people met in Berlin and enjoyed a varied program with exhibition visits and talks for a weekend.

Initially we visited the well-known gallery ZAK | BRANICKA which focuses on Polish and Eastern European contemporary art. Asia Zak, one of the owners, gave us a lively introduction about the polish art scene, the work of the gallery and their current exhibition.

After that the group met in Berlin Mitte in order to listen to a presentation on the initiative and aims of the Young Benefactors held by Carl von Stechow. To finish the eventful day we had a nice dinner at the well-known Berlin restaurant Prater.

Sunday started with a guided tour through the Plötzensee Memorial Center. Brigitte Raff gave a touching introduction to the place and its history which was followed by a very personal discussion with our group. Later in the afternoon Dr. Agnieszka von Zanthier, Executive director of the Freya von Moltke-Foundation, held the last lecture of the meeting. She talked about the Kreisau-Circle, its concepts and the recent history of the New Kreisau.

We've spent a very exiting and informative weekend and we're looking forward to the next meeting of the Young Benefectors coming soon in February 2011.
