Second Meeting of the Young Benefactors in Berlin, 12 to 13 March 2011
On the 12th and 13th of March 2011, the second meeting of the Young Benefactors took successfully place at the Schwarzkopf-Stiftung in Berlin. First of all, Asia Szaflik who works for the Kreisau Initiative, presented her work. She drew a good picture of her youth projects in the field of socialpolitical engagement which mostly take place in Kreisau and with participants from all over Europe.
During the following workshop about the concepts of the Kreisauer Circle for a Europe after the Nazis, the group started a lively discussion about the external influences, the aspired structures, the motives and the aims of the Kreisauer Circle. Influenced by this recent historical discussion, the group transferred the Kreisauer ideas onto today´s Europe and prepared questions for the discussion with politician Viola von Cramon, member of the German Parliament and the political party Bündnis 90 die Grünen. The fist day ended with a supper in Berlin-Mitte.
Sunday morning started at the polish gallery “Collectiva” with a visit of the recent exhibition “Cut and Out” by the polish artist Lukasz Gronowski. Later that afternoon, two of the Young Benefactors, Ulrich von Schwerin und Carl-Friedrich von Stechow, lead through the interview and discussion with Viola von Cramon about the original ideas of the European Union and her point of view on today´s European politics.
A third meeting will be organized in autum 2011, concerning the Kreisauer circles view on the relation between state and church.
